Lenten Schedule 2021

Journey through the Wilderness

Lent & Easter 2021

The word “Lent” means “spring”. In the Church it refers to the forty-day period leading up to Easter, beginning on Ash Wednesday. Lent, which comes from the Teutonic (Germanic) word for springtime, can be viewed as a spiritual spring cleaning: a time for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things which hinder our relationships with Jesus Christ and our service to him. The practice of Lent recalls Jesus’ forty days in the wilderness, while the season also focuses on that portion of the Gospel that depicts Jesus’ journey to the Cross. It was at that point that Jesus began foretelling his Passion and challenging his disciples to take up their cross and follow him as he “set his face toward Jerusalem.”

We all have journeyed through own “wilderness”, especially this past year.  During this season, we want to reflect on our personal wilderness experiences and how our faith gives us hope for the future.  Each Lenten Wednesday service will include personal reflections from some of our own church family.  We hope you will join us each Wednesday and on Sunday mornings as we journey through the wilderness with Jesus during this Lenten season.

MCMS Snack Drive

Schools have faced a myriad of challenges this year.  Kudos to all of the teachers, administrators and children that have had to embrace these new frontiers in learning.  MCMS has placed a call to the community for help this year.  They are requesting donations of healthy snacks, as some children are unable to have lunch until late in the day.  St. Luke's has habitually stepped up to assist the community when needed, and this call is no exception.  Food donations are being collected in the Fellowship Hall kitchen and monetary donations are being accepted as well.  Schools will be shifting to a 4 day school week beginning in January, and will need our help more than ever.  Let's all come together as one and make sure the schools have all they need this year!

1 Service - 3 ways to Worship

Beginning November 22, 2020, St. Luke's will offer 3 different ways to view the same service each Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

1.  Worship in the sanctuary following social distance guidelines.

2.  View the live service electronically from the parking lot.  Video and audio will be provided.

3.  View the live service via Facebook.

All suggestions will be considered during these times.  Your input is very important to us so we can make sure the word of God reaches all.
